Dekret über den Bau eines Schatzhauses

Unter dem monarchos Phylotimos, im Dalios, am ersten, Herodotos S.d. Herakleitosstellte den Antrag: Zu Glück und Heil, die Volksversammlung wolle beschließen: dass die Stadtein Schatzhaus baue für Asklepios im Tempel des Asklepios; die Poleten sollenverdingen den Bau des Schatzhauses an einem Ort, den dieVorsteher und der Priester des Asklepios und die Tempelaufseher anweisen.Die entstandenen Kosten sollen die Schatzmeister begleichen aus dendem Asklepios vorhandenen Mitteln, die gegeben wurden für - - -.- - -. Was aber geschrieben steht in dem heiligen Reglement, das in Kraft gesetzt hatdas Volk - - - unter dem monarchos - -damos, was die jeweils künftig im Amtbefindlichen Schatzmeister in jedem Halbjahr aus den Einkünften derHeiligtümer abzuführen haben, das alles sollen die Schatzmeister in das Schatzhaus einzahlenin Gegenwart der im Amt befindlichen Tempelaufseher und des Priestersdes Asklepios, und in das Archiv sollen legen die Abrechnung über die Gelder,vieviel in das Schatzhaus eingezahlt wurde, die Schatzmeister und die Tempelaufseherund die Vorsteher. Das Schatzhaus soll vier Schlüssel haben, von denSchlüsseln sollen den einen die Vorsteher haben, den anderen die Tempelaufseher,den anderen die Schatzmeister, den anderen der Priester des Asklepios. Damit nun,wenn Gelder ausreichend vorhanden sind, die Opfer für Asklepiosund für Hygieia und für Epione und die Festversammlung und die Festgesandtschaften unddie gymnischen Wettkämpfe schön und glänzend aufgeführt werden und würdigder Götter und der Absicht des Volkes, sollen die im Amt befindlichenSchatzmeister die zusätzlich eingekommenen Gelder aus den Einkünftendes Marschlandes, die zukommen dem Gott für die [Spiele], sofort einzahlenin das Schatzhaus - - - (falls [nicht?])für das Marschland anderes beschließt die Volksversammlung. Sie sollen auch überführendas Geld, was herausgenommen wird aus dem Opferstock des Apollon in dem Heiligtumdes Asklepios, und welche Abgaben sonst dem Gott hineingeworfen worden sind, undsoviel Holz die Stadt kauft aus den Hainen des Gottes, den Wert soll dieVolksversammlung festsetzen, den Preis sollen die Tempelpfleger sofort einzahlen in dasSchatzhaus; einzahlen sollen auch die Tempelaufseher, wieviel auch immer einkommtdem Gott woher auch immer. Under the monarchos Phylotimos, on the first of Dalios, Herodotos son of Herakleitosproposed: for good fortune, it is decreed by the assembly: the city is to makea treasury building for Asklepios in the temple of Asklepios; the poletai are tocontract to make the treasury building in the place in which theprostatai and the priest of Asklepios and the temple overseers designate;the cost incurred is to be paid out by the treasurers from themoney of Asklepios in hand that was given for - - -- - -; what is recorded in the sacred regulation which the people ratified- - - under monarchos - -damos, the treasurers who in future will bein office are every six months to draw from the revenues of thesacred lands, all of which the treasurers are to deposit in the treasury buildingin the presence of the temple overseers who are in office and the priestof Asklepios, and the treasurers and the temple overseers and the prostataiare to place in a coffer an account of such money as was placedin the treasury building; the treasury building is to have four keys, and of thekeys one the prostatai are to have, the second the templeoverseers, one the treasurers, one the priest of Asklepios; therefore so thatwith money immediately available the sacrifices to Asklepiosand Hygieia and Epione and the festival and the theoric missions andthe gymnic contests are conducted handsomely and with distinctionand worthily of the gods and the intention of the people, the treasurerswho in future will be in office are to convey promptly to the treasurybuilding the money hisiving from the revenues of the marshlandwhich are due for the - - - to the god - - -for the marshland unless the assembly vote otherwise; also are to be transferredthe money taken from the treasury of Apollo that is in the templeof Asklepios and whatever first-fruits are deposited there for the god; and whateverlumber the city has bought from the groves of the god, let the assembly fix thevalue and hieropoioi are immediately to bring the sale price to the treasurybuilding; and the temple overseers are to bring whatever accrues tothe god from any source; so that - - - money in handfrom the marshland - - - under monarchosEukle- -- - -
